A Warm Day

Warm sun on my face
Chilly wind blowing through my sweater
Snip some more branches
Making it tidy

Chickadee preening himself
Safe in the tangled bush
Wondering where the seeds are
And the humans that usually feed them
They hop around me expectantly
But I only come with pruners

A crow hides a piece of food in the lawn
And covers it with a leaf or two
I guess he trusts I won’t steal it
As I watch his every move

A satisfying day
The bushes look much cleaner
Air can circulate and light can enter
Room for new shoots to grow
