Made yummy apple pie today using Fay’s recipe.
Counted the tasty fresh macintosh apples I got from the store (15) and thought: well, we’ll try to fit it into one pie.
I know I’ve fit a dozen before.
Made the pie crust and rolled it out. Bottom fit no problem, but once the apples were piled high (like 6 inches high), there was a bit of re-rolling to do to expand the size of the top crust.
It just fit.
Funny thing happens once you take the pie out of the oven.
The pile of apple slices collapses inside, leaving the crust in its original position. Pretty funny and cool-looking when you have a near half empty crust cavern of apples! A pie igloo!
